CPC refutes legislator's claim of 0% procurement from sheltered workshops, citing 14.75 million yuan spent last year

Taiwan's state-run oil company, CPC Corporation, has refuted claims made by legislator Weng Hsiao-ling that its procurement execution rate for products from sheltered workshops was zero last year. Weng had alleged that CPC allocated 1.43 million yuan for such purchases but failed to spend any of it.

CPC clarified on May 25 that the actual amount spent on products, food, and services from sheltered workshops and social welfare groups in the previous year was approximately 14.75 million yuan. This figure significantly exceeds the budget cited by the legislator, indicating substantial support for these initiatives.

The company's statement aims to correct the public record and address concerns about its commitment to social welfare programs. The discrepancy highlights a potential misunderstanding or misinterpretation of procurement data, with CPC asserting its active engagement in supporting vulnerable populations through its purchasing power.
