Cristhian Noboa attacks ex-footballers turned journalists: 'They are trash'

Ecuadorian midfielder Cristhian Noboa has ignited controversy by launching a scathing attack on former professional footballers who have transitioned into sports journalism. Noboa described these individuals as "f***ing trash," expressing his deep disappointment with their current roles.

Noboa, a veteran of the Ecuadorian national team and a participant in the 2014 World Cup, specifically targeted ex-players who, in his view, are overly critical of current players. He is particularly irked by those who question footballers when they demand unpaid wages or report contractual violations by their clubs. Noboa believes these former colleagues, having lived through similar hardships, should offer more understanding and support.

"What the press says doesn't bother me. What bothers me are those who went from players to journalists. They are unpleasant people," Noboa stated in an interview with Radio City. He lamented that some individuals he once respected or considered close have changed their perception, especially when they criticize players for asserting their labor rights, seemingly to maintain favor with club management. "I lost respect for many," he added, noting he wouldn't even greet some former acquaintances on the street if they acted in such a manner.
