Croatia Allocates 5 Million Euros for Elevator Installations and Facade Renovations

The Croatian government is taking significant steps to enhance the living conditions and preserve the rich architectural heritage of its cities. Through the Ministry of Physical Planning, Construction, and State Property, a substantial 5 million euros has been earmarked for crucial renovation projects, focusing on elevator installations and facade improvements for historically significant buildings.

This initiative is particularly vital for ensuring accessibility in older, multi-story buildings, especially for individuals with mobility issues. The public calls for applications aim to facilitate the installation of elevators, making these buildings more inclusive. Simultaneously, the program addresses the urgent need to maintain and restore the facades of buildings that are designated as protected cultural heritage or are located within cultural-historical complexes, thereby safeguarding the nation's valuable architectural legacy.

The ministry's commitment to co-financing these projects, with a third of the costs covered by the state, demonstrates a proactive approach to urban renewal and cultural preservation. The involvement of local self-government units, with 25 units already expressing interest in co-financing elevator projects and 26 for facade renovations, indicates a collaborative effort between national and local authorities. This ensures that the benefits reach communities across the country, fostering a sense of shared responsibility in upgrading living standards and protecting cultural identity.
