Croatia Gathers for World Cup Preparations, Training Begins in Rijeka

The Croatian national football team is commencing its preparations for the upcoming World Cup. A portion of the squad will gather today at the Sheraton Hotel in Zagreb at 12:30 PM before traveling by bus to Rijeka for a training camp. The rest of the players, who have had later club season finishes, are expected to join the training sessions by May 29th.

Upon arrival in Rijeka, the team will immediately begin training at 7:00 PM today. They will continue with one training session daily at 6:00 PM until June 2nd, when they play their first preparatory match against Belgium in Rijeka. Following this, they will have a few more training sessions in Rijeka before traveling to Zagreb on June 6th. The second friendly match is scheduled against Slovenia in Varaždin on June 7th.

Coach Zlatko Dalić confirmed the schedule, stating, "On Monday, we are going with some players for preparations, and by May 29th, all the others, who finished their seasons or championships later, should be at training." After the match against Slovenia, the coach will grant the players their only day off during this phase of preparation on June 8th, before their flight to North America, specifically Alexandria, USA, on June 9th.
