Croatia to Distribute Child Allowances Starting July 15

Croatia is set to disburse child allowances for June starting July 15, 2026, providing financial support to 122,156 users covering 254,950 children. The Croatian Pension Insurance Institute announced the payment schedule, which aims to assist families based on their economic standing.

The amount of child allowance each family receives is determined by their total household income from the previous calendar year. For 2026, the income threshold is set at 618.02 euros per family member per month. Allowances are tiered, ranging from 30.90 euros to a maximum of 61.80 euros per child per month.

Families with the lowest income, not exceeding 88.29 euros per household member, will receive the highest allowance of 61.80 euros. Conversely, those with incomes between 441.45 and 618.02 euros will receive the minimum of 30.90 euros. The system includes five income brackets, each corresponding to a specific allowance amount.

Special provisions increase the allowance amounts. For children who have lost both parents, or in other specific circumstances like unknown parentage or parental incapacity, the allowance increases by 25%. For children with only one parent absent or in similar situations, the increase is 15%. These adjusted amounts range from 77.25 euros down to 38.63 euros for children without both parents, and 71.07 euros down to 35.54 euros for children with one parent absent.

Furthermore, children of Croatian Homeland War veterans whose parents were killed or went missing will receive a fixed allowance of 77.25 euros per month, regardless of income. Families with three children are eligible for an additional 66.36 euros monthly, while those with four or more children receive an extra 132.72 euros per month, reflecting a commitment to supporting larger families.
