Croatian Actor Janko Popović Volarić Shares Special Bond with Son David

Croatian actor Janko Popović Volarić, known for keeping his private life out of the spotlight, has cultivated an exceptionally close relationship with his son, David. Having become a father at the young age of 20, Volarić shares a bond with David that many liken to brothers rather than father and son.

"Our relationship is completely normal. People tell me I could go out with him, but I have no intention of that," Volarić once stated, reflecting on their connection. He emphasized that he and David practically grew up together, living a standard father-son life. This unique connection was even highlighted on screen when they embarked on a hiking adventure in Gorski Kotar for the HRT documentary series "Planine."

During their mountain trek, Volarić spoke candidly about the challenges of early parenthood. "I became a father very early. David is a wonderful person, and at some point, you have to realize you are responsible. I managed that in a way, and so did his mother, of course," he shared. David himself admired his parents' courage, acknowledging, "That's really an undertaking. After nine months, you have to start caring for a child who depends on you completely."

David's mother, poet Ines Peruško Rihtar, later established a new family and had two more sons, Vladimir and Jakov. All three brothers maintain excellent relationships despite not sharing the same father. Notably, David's half-brother, Jakov Peruško Rihtar, gained public recognition as a finalist on the popular music show "The Voice Hrvatska," showcasing the family's artistic talent.

Nearly three decades after becoming a father, Volarić has entered a new chapter. He recently married singer-songwriter and producer Lovorka Sršen, and the couple welcomed a daughter. "My son will be 28 now, so the age difference will be considerable. I am overjoyed; I was afraid this second child wouldn't happen, but I wanted one. I'm incredibly happy, I hope my back and my nerves can handle it," he said with a laugh, embracing this new phase of his life.
