Croatian Defense Minister Slams Political Rivals Over Zagreb Scandals

Croatian Minister of Defense Ivan Anušić has sharply criticized the Možemo! political party, accusing them of generating three "huge scandals" during their six years of governance in Zagreb. Speaking on Croatian Radio, Anušić directly challenged Možemo!'s claims that the ruling HDZ party has no right to lecture on corruption.

Anušić cited several specific cases to support his accusations. He mentioned the Hipodrom affair, involving a settlement between the former director of the Sports Facilities Management Institution and USKOK (the Croatian anti-corruption agency), describing it as a "classic example of an affair, abuse of position, and political irresponsibility." He also pointed to the case involving Ivana Kekin and land in Istria, as well as a scandal connected to the Vodovod company.

Addressing the performance of the national government, Anušić asserted that it is functioning "excellently" despite significant international challenges, including inflation and energy prices. He expressed confidence that the government would complete its term, acknowledging that disagreements within the ruling coalition are normal but emphasizing that Croatia's national interest must remain the priority.
