Cross River group pledges bloc votes for Otu, Tinubu in 2027

The Cross River State Political Network (CRISPON) has pledged to deliver bloc votes for Governor Bassey Otu and President Bola Tinubu in the upcoming 2027 general elections. The group asserts that a strong showing for Tinubu will enhance Cross River's negotiating power and influence at the federal center.

The pledge was made during an endorsement rally for All Progressives Congress (APC) candidates in Ogoja Local Government Area. CRISPON's Director-General, Dr. Michael Abuo, urged members to mobilize voters and ensure maximum turnout. "As we go back to our respective polling units, as we go back to our respective wards, as we go back to our respective local governments, let us not allow any voter’s card, any voter slip to be returned. We must use all the ballot papers. We must deliver bloc votes across all polling units," Abuo stated.

Abuo commended Governor Otu for ongoing road projects, particularly the Calabar-Ogoja road, but appealed for faster intervention in Ukelle and Boki. He also highlighted key demands, including addressing electricity challenges in Bekwarra, establishing a College of Medical Sciences in Yala, and expanding facilities at the University of Cross River State, Okuku campus, School of Nursing, and College of Health Technology. The group also called for Federal Government support in reclaiming Cross River's oil wells.

CRISPON also noted that 115 names had been submitted for a state intervention program, with beneficiaries expected to receive support by the end of September. The group praised the governor for lifting the ban on civil service recruitment and called for more job opportunities for young people. Governor Otu, represented by his deputy Peter Odey, urged support for President Tinubu's second-term bid.
