Cupra unveils new urban electric car, the Raval, aiming for accessible electromobility

From the heart of Barcelona's vibrant El Raval district comes a new contender in the urban electric vehicle market: the Cupra Raval. This compact electric car, poised to hit the streets by summer with an entry-level price of approximately €26,000, is a significant addition to the Volkswagen Group's Electric Urban Car Family, which also includes models like the Volkswagen ID.Polo and Skoda Epiq. The Raval, first glimpsed in Barcelona, embodies the youthful spirit and creativity of its namesake neighborhood. Its dimensions—404.6 cm long, 178.4 cm wide, and 151.8 cm high, with a 260 cm wheelbase—emphasize its agility in city environments, complemented by a 441-liter trunk. The design is sharp and muscular, featuring a striking illuminated Cupra logo, Matrix LED headlights, and flush-fitting illuminated door handles. The rear boasts a pronounced diffuser and a full-width light bar with 3D effects. Customization is key, with options for alloy wheels and seven exterior colors, including striking matte and iridescent finishes like 'plasma lacquer' that shifts hues with the light. Inside, the driver-focused cockpit blends digital integration with tactile physical controls. A 12.9-inch infotainment system running Android OS and a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster keep the driver informed and entertained. The interior design prioritizes sustainability, with four trim options utilizing recycled materials, notably the 'Pulse' and 'Ahead' packages featuring seats made from 100% recycled fabrics. The innovative Smart Light Next Generation system enhances the cabin ambiance and acts as an intuitive interface, providing visual feedback for driver-assistance systems.
