Customs invites 3,852 recruits for screening in Abuja

Nigeria’s customs recruitment process has reached its final stage, with 3,852 successful candidates summoned to Abuja for physical screening and document checks.

The candidates will report to the Nigeria Customs Command and Staff College in Gwagwalada. They must bring original documents and photocopies, including their National Identification Number, birth certificate or declaration of age, educational certificates and certificate of state of origin.

Applicants must also provide two recent passport photographs, a completed guarantor’s form and an NYSC certificate where applicable. Customs instructed candidates to wear a white T-shirt, shorts and canvas shoes.

The Nigeria Customs Service wishes to inform all successful candidates who applied for recruitment into the Service that the physical screening and documentation exercise is scheduled to take place at the Nigeria Customs Command and Staff College, Gwagwalada, Abuja.

The exercise followed a highly competitive selection process. Customs received 573,680 applications but selected only 3,852 people, meaning roughly one applicant succeeded for every 148 who applied.

The service said candidates must appear on the dates assigned to their states and cadres. Failure to attend as scheduled could lead to disqualification. The recruitment process opened in December 2024 and faced delays that prompted Customs management to apologise when it released the final list in August.

Furthermore, all shortlisted candidates are required to appear for the screening and documentation exercise with the original and photocopies of the following documents: National Identification Number; original Birth Certificate or Declaration of Age; and educational certificate(s), including O’Level, ND, HND, Degree or other applicable qualifications.
