CVR: INEC extends deadline, introduces self-service registration

Nigeria's Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has extended the deadline for the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise, offering more time for citizens to register to vote. The commission announced the extension in a statement issued on Friday in Abuja.

In addition to extending the deadline, INEC has also introduced a new self-service registration portal. This initiative aims to streamline the registration process and make it more accessible for eligible voters. The self-service option allows individuals to begin their registration online, potentially reducing wait times at physical registration centers.

The extension and introduction of the self-service option are expected to boost participation in the voter registration drive. INEC has urged all eligible citizens who have not yet registered to take advantage of the extended period and the new technology to ensure they are included in the voter roll for future elections.
