Cyber Hankuk University completes summer overseas Korean language education practice in Thailand

Cyber Hankuk University of Foreign Studies' Korean Language Department has successfully concluded its summer overseas Korean language education practice at Rangsit University in Thailand. This program, a flagship overseas education initiative for the university since 2007, allows Korean language majors to gain immersive, hands-on teaching experience with local learners.

The intensive one-week program, held from June 28 to July 4, saw 12 students from Cyber Hankuk University teaching alongside 60 students from Rangsit University's Korean Language Department. The Cyber Hankuk University students had prepared rigorously for four months, focusing on lesson design, material development, and teaching methodologies under the guidance of their professors.

This practice provided students majoring in Korean language education with an opportunity to apply Korean language education theory to actual classes and learn methods for interacting with learners.

They designed Korean language courses tailored to different proficiency levels, from beginner Hangeul to intermediate communication-focused classes. Additionally, they organized eight Korean cultural experience programs, including Taekwondo, Minhwa (traditional folk painting), and Talchum (mask dance). Rangsit University students actively participated, with beginners able to read Hangeul and introduce themselves in Korean within five days, and intermediate students engaging in conversations in Korean even during breaks.

Although it was a short schedule, it must have been an opportunity to explore and prepare for their future careers more concretely.

Professor Jin Jeong-ran, head of Cyber Hankuk University's Korean Language Department, expressed confidence that the practice provided students with a valuable opportunity to apply theoretical knowledge to real-world teaching scenarios and learn effective interaction methods with learners. She also noted the program's contribution to the development of partner universities by offering overseas students opportunities to use Korean.

The university plans to continue expanding its overseas practical training programs to enhance the global teaching capabilities of future Korean language educators. The next winter overseas Korean language education practice is scheduled for February 2027 at Niigata University of Health and Welfare in Japan. Cyber Hankuk University is also currently recruiting for its 2026 fall semester admissions.
