Cyclist dies after crash in Kilkenny

A cyclist in his 30s has died following a collision with a car in County Kilkenny earlier this week. The incident occurred on Wednesday, June 24th, on the L100 Tullaroan Road near Loughmacask.

The crash took place at approximately 5:30 p.m. The cyclist sustained serious injuries and was initially taken to St Luke's General Hospital in Carlow Kilkenny. He was later transferred to Beaumont Hospital, where he passed away yesterday evening.

Garda experts conducted a technical examination of the crash scene. A postmortem examination is scheduled to determine the official cause of death. An Garda Síochána has appealed to any witnesses or individuals with relevant dashcam footage from the L100 Tullaroan Road on Wednesday evening to come forward.

This incident contributes to the ongoing road safety concerns in Ireland. An Garda Síochána reported on Friday that 85 people have died on Irish roads this year. Separately, a man in his 90s died this weekend after his moving car struck an unoccupied parked car in County Laois.
