ÇYDD Denies Institutional Ties with Haluk Levent and AHBAP

The Çağdaş Yaşamı Destekleme Derneği (ÇYDD), an association dedicated to supporting contemporary life, has issued a strong statement refuting any institutional connection with singer Haluk Levent and his AHBAP association. The organization expressed dismay over recent media reports attempting to link its founder, the late Prof. Dr. Türkan Saylan, to Levent through "untrue and forced claims."

ÇYDD clarified that Haluk Levent has never been a member, volunteer, or employee within their organization. Furthermore, the association stated that no corporate cooperation, joint projects, or shared activities have ever taken place between ÇYDD and AHBAP. This denial comes in the wake of public attention on investigations and arrest warrants issued against Haluk Levent and AHBAP administrators.

The association highlighted its commitment to the principles of a secular, democratic republic and Atatürkist values, noting that Prof. Dr. Saylan dedicated her life to contemporary education, science, and social solidarity. While acknowledging that some individuals may draw inspiration from Saylan, ÇYDD firmly stated that this does not imply any legal or institutional relationship with the association.

Founded in 1989 and recognized for its public benefit status, ÇYDD emphasized its adherence to transparency and accountability. The organization undergoes regular audits by its internal control board, provincial civil society relations directorates, the State Audit Board when necessary, and independent international auditing firms. These audits have consistently confirmed ÇYDD's financial and administrative operations as transparent, accountable, and compliant with regulations.

The statement also addressed recent public announcements made by ÇYDD regarding the 2016 coup attempt, asserting that these were immediately followed by attempts to target the association's founder. ÇYDD expressed its expectation that the ongoing investigations into Levent and AHBAP be conducted in line with the rule of law, as guaranteed by the constitution.
