Czech Tourists Arrested in Croatia Over Missing 45,000 Euros

Two Czech citizens face charges in Croatia after allegedly keeping a bag containing 45,000 euros they found on the island of Lošinj. The men, both 27 years old, are suspected of retaining the money instead of handing it over to authorities or attempting to find the owner.

According to reports, the pair discovered a Louis Vuitton bag containing cash and personal items on July 15. Inside the bag were 45,000 euros in an envelope, an additional 300 euros in a wallet, and belongings of the owner and their children. Investigators believe the suspects took the entire sum for themselves.

Croatian police apprehended the men shortly after the discovery. During the investigation, it was determined that 6,100 euros were missing from the total amount. While 39,200 euros were recovered from the suspects, a search for the remaining funds is ongoing. A judge ordered pre-trial detention for both men, with the possibility of release on bail.
