Da Nang Police Chief Orders Crackdown on Counterfeits, Drugs Amid Festival Season

Major General Nguyen Huu Hop, Director of the Da Nang City Police, has commanded a swift and decisive crackdown on counterfeit goods, illegal drugs, and street crime as the city braces for its peak tourist and festival season. The order was issued during a weekly command meeting on June 15, attended by city police leadership and unit commanders.

Major General Hop commended the forces for their effective work in maintaining political stability and social order, highlighting the successful security operations during the recent Da Nang International Fireworks Festival (DIFF) 2026 and upcoming national high school and university entrance exams. The police department has been actively implementing directives against counterfeit goods, substandard products, and intellectual property infringements, while also focusing on drug prevention and supporting the city's technological development initiatives.

In his directive, Major General Hop urged all police units to maintain a strong grasp of the situation, preventing the emergence of security hotspots or complex incidents. He specifically emphasized the rigorous enforcement of Ministry of Public Security Directive No. 38, targeting the production and sale of counterfeit and low-quality goods, intellectual property violations, and illicit activities involving nitrous oxide (laughing gas) and other key economic areas.

The police chief also praised the efforts of the Hai Chau and Thanh Khe ward police in combating drug crimes, urging continued determination to achieve the goal of creating "drug-free communes and wards" as per government and city directives. Looking ahead, Da Nang police will implement comprehensive measures to ensure security and order, focusing on gambling, street crime, theft, robbery, and public disturbances, particularly around the DIFF 2026 events. Efforts will also include enhancing citizen identification services, ensuring traffic safety, inspecting accommodation facilities and foreigners, and managing temporary residents.
