Da Nang: Ride-hailing Driver Attacked, SH Motorcycle Stolen on Deserted Road

Authorities in Da Nang have swiftly apprehended a suspect in a brazen daylight robbery targeting a ride-hailing driver. The incident, which occurred on the night of May 10th, saw the driver attacked and his valuable Honda SH motorcycle stolen, leaving him injured and without his primary source of income.

According to initial reports, the driver picked up a passenger in the early hours of May 11th. The journey took a dangerous turn when, on a deserted stretch of road, the passenger suddenly attacked the driver with a hard object. The victim sustained injuries to his right shoulder and head, forcing him to abandon his vehicle and flee for safety. The assailant then made off with the Honda SH, estimated to be worth over 50 million VND.

Responding to the report, police from Dien Ban Dong ward launched an immediate investigation. Utilizing their resources, they identified Le Van Thanh, 41, as the prime suspect. Thanh was apprehended on May 12th at a local coffee shop after attempting to conceal the stolen motorcycle at a guesthouse. The swiftness of the arrest highlights the efforts of the Da Nang police to ensure public safety and bring perpetrators to justice.

The incident serves as a stark reminder of the risks faced by ride-hailing drivers, who often operate in vulnerable situations.
