Dadgostar on Terrorist Praise: 'A Mistake'

Nooshi Dadgostar, leader of Sweden's Left Party, has labeled social media posts by a party parliamentarian that praised a terrorist as a "mistake." She admitted that the party should have had better internal procedures to prevent such an occurrence.

"A mistake by a member of parliament. We should have had better routines here," Dadgostar stated at a press conference. The posts in question were made by MP Ilona Szatmári Waldau, who sent supportive messages to a terrorist. She has since distanced herself from the messages, calling them a mistake. These posts were part of a campaign where several Left Party MPs wrote letters of support to Palestinian prisoners, a matter first revealed by Expressen.

The party has removed all related campaign materials and is conducting a thorough review of its internal processes.

This incident is not isolated. Earlier this year, Expressen reported that 25 Left Party candidates had expressed support for terror groups and praised dictatorships, mainly in connection with the Israel-Palestine conflict. Of those candidates, 22 were subsequently removed from the party's electoral lists or withdrew voluntarily.
