Daegu Metro Line 3 resumes full service from first train after daylong stoppage

Daegu Metro Line 3 returned to normal service from its first train at 5:30 a.m., one day after a power supply failure brought the monorail to a halt.

Daegu Urban Corporation said on the 8th that it had completed repairs to the affected section and restored trains across the full route. The line stopped operating at about 7:38 p.m. on the 7th because of the outage. Partial service resumed at 8:10 p.m. between Chilgok Kyungpook National University Hospital and Dalseong Park stations.

We completed repair work on the section affected by the power failure, and trains are operating normally across the entire route from the first train at 5:30 a.m.

The operator determined that the failure occurred between Suseong Market and Eorini Sesang stations. When power was cut, the trains activated backup power and all reached nearby stations. Passengers on board were able to disembark safely without reported harm. The corporation also sent a safety text advising Line 3 users to take other forms of transportation while service remained suspended.

An operator official said the problem involved the overhead power equipment between Suseong-gu Sports Complex and Eorini Sesang stations. The corporation took corrective action and is working to determine the exact cause. The monorail opened in April 2015 as the first of its kind in South Korea. A separate equipment problem halted the entire line in October 2018, with service restored after 11 hours.
