DAET Reports 92 Captures in Month and a Half of Operations Against Organized Crime

Honduras's newly formed División Anti Extorsión y Asociaciones Terroristas (DAET) has reported a significant number of arrests in its initial operational period. In just over a month and a half, the division has detained 92 individuals as part of its ongoing efforts against organized criminal structures.

The DAET, which was established following the dissolution of the Dirección Policial Anti Maras y Pandillas Contra el Crimen Organizado (Dipampco), is currently undergoing a restructuring process. Despite this, Director Jorge Daniel Molina assured that operational activities have not ceased since the division's inception.

Molina highlighted that all 92 detainees have been formally processed, indicating that citizen complaints and intelligence work have yielded positive results. He stated that the successful execution of these operations demonstrates the strength of intelligence gathering and investigative diligence.

In addition to broader anti-crime operations, the DAET is intensifying its focus on the urban transport sector. Operations are underway on major transport routes in Tegucigalpa and San Pedro Sula. The Unit for Urban Transport Security is actively working to identify groups involved in extortion and other illicit activities within this sector. The DAET is collaborating with the Honduran Institute of Land Transport (IHTT) to gather information that will enhance control measures within the public transportation system.
