Daewoo E&C Introduces Safety Rating System for Subcontractors, Reflecting Safety in Bids

Daewoo Engineering & Construction has launched a new safety rating system for its subcontractors, integrating their safety management performance into the bidding process.

This new 'Subcontractor Safety Rating System' aims to elevate on-site safety standards by factoring in a subcontractor's safety management capabilities alongside traditional criteria like construction costs and price competitiveness. The system officially began implementation in July.

Under the system, subcontractors will be evaluated based on their safety management levels. Those with excellent safety ratings will receive incentives, such as points added to their bid amounts, making them more competitive. Conversely, subcontractors with inadequate safety management will face progressively stricter measures, potentially including bidding restrictions.

The evaluation process will combine on-site safety assessments with headquarters-based safety reviews. Additionally, safety ratings from credit rating agencies, such as SH and SA grades, will be incorporated to provide a comprehensive assessment of a subcontractor's safety performance.

In the selection of preferred bidders, the system will apply incentive amounts based on safety ratings, effectively reducing the evaluated bid price for companies with higher safety standards. This approach ensures that companies prioritizing safety are given a competitive advantage in the bidding process, fostering a culture of safety throughout Daewoo E&C's construction projects.
