Dafne Zapata Case: Three Marches Announced Across Mexico; Demand End to Cover-Up of Femicide Culprits

Activists will hold three marches across Mexico on August 6 to demand justice for Dafne Zapata Quintos, who was a victim of feminicide. Alejandra Quintos, Dafne's mother, announced the demonstrations, calling for the arrest of everyone implicated in her daughter's murder and an end to any cover-up. "We demand justice!" Quintos stated, emphasizing that the culprits should not be shielded. The march in the southern Tamaulipas region will begin at 6:00 PM in front of the Municipal Presidency of Ciudad Madero. Protesters are encouraged to bring water, wear hats, carry signs, and wear white. The organizers stated, "Ciudad Madero, Tampico and Altamira, it is time to raise your voice; let all of southern Tamaulipas unite to demand that this crime does not go unpunished and that justice is served." In Tuxtla Gutiérrez, Chiapas, the gathering is scheduled for 4:00 PM at the Diana Cazadora, followed by a peaceful march to the central park. Attendees are asked to wear black or purple, bring water, hats, and signs. A message from Chiapas reads, "From Chiapas we demand justice for Dafne." In Monterrey, Nuevo León, participants are invited to assemble at 4:00 PM at the Explanada de los Héroes (Macroplaza) for a "march for Dafne, Monterrey demands justice."
