Dagbolu Dry Port revival tops Oyebamiji’s trade agenda

Bola Oyebamiji, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for Osun State governor, has prioritized the revival of the Dagbolu Dry Port as a cornerstone of his economic strategy. He outlined this plan as part of his comprehensive agenda, themed ‘A Pact for Growth, Inclusion and Lasting Development,’ aimed at transforming Osun into a premier investment and industrial destination.

During a meeting with the Waterfront Boat Owners and Transporters Association of Nigeria, Oyebamiji, a former Managing Director of the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA), detailed how unlocking the state's economic potential through strategic assets is crucial. He specifically mentioned the Dagbolu Dry Port, the Osun-Osogbo Grove, Oba Hills National Park, Ido-Osun Airport, and the Osun Free Trade Zone as vital for stimulating commerce, boosting tourism, and attracting both local and foreign investment.

The revival of the Dagbolu Dry Port and the Osun Free Trade Zone would improve trade facilitation, boost logistics and position Osun as a competitive industrial and export hub within Nigeria. We will resuscitate strategic economic assets that have the capacity to transform Osun’s economy, stimulate private sector investment and create wealth for our people.

Oyebamiji emphasized that revitalizing the Dagbolu Dry Port and the Osun Free Trade Zone would significantly improve trade facilitation and logistics. This, he stated, would position Osun State as a competitive industrial and export hub within Nigeria. He is committed to resuscitating these assets to foster private sector investment and generate wealth for the state's populace.

Leaders from the Waterfront Boat Owners and Transporters Association of Nigeria lauded Oyebamiji's past performance at NIWA, expressing confidence in his ability to replicate such success in Osun. They believe his leadership could elevate the state's marine and blue economy, particularly in maritime tourism, leveraging attractions like the Osun-Osogbo Grove and Erin-Ijesha Waterfalls.
