Dana and Clab partner to develop functional sanitary furniture using 'Medi淸' technology

Furniture manufacturer Dana and functional material technology firm Clab are joining forces to develop innovative sanitary furniture and space hygiene solutions. The companies signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to integrate Clab's 'Medi淸' nano-hygiene technology into Dana's product lines.

'Medi淸' is a high-performance coating solution developed by Clab that can be applied to furniture surfaces. It is designed to inhibit the growth of bacteria and viruses, deodorize, and reduce harmful substances. A key feature is its ability to be applied at room temperature, minimizing material damage while enhancing hygiene.

The partnership aims to combine Clab's advanced material technology with Dana's manufacturing capabilities and established public procurement networks. This synergy is expected to bring enhanced hygiene-performance furniture to the market, particularly for public and educational institutions.

Given the nature of public furniture that many users come into contact with, hygiene management is important.

The companies have outlined a four-stage roadmap for their collaboration. Initially, they will develop prototype products, such as school desks, lockers, and library reading desks, incorporating 'Medi淸'. This will be followed by pilot operations for space cleaning and coating services in high-traffic facilities. The third stage involves supplying products to government agencies and hospitals for both new installations and furniture renewals. Finally, they plan to expand into the consumer furniture and pet product markets.

Dana CEO Han Shin-ok emphasized the importance of hygiene management in public furniture due to frequent user contact. Clab CEO Kim Sung-ho pledged continued technical support to ensure the successful application of 'Medi淸' in public facilities. The companies plan to sign a main contract for raw material supply and mass production after evaluating prototype performance.
