Danish hurdlers miss European Championship final

Danish hurdlers Ida Beiter Bomme, Mette Laugesen Kammer, and Annika Haldbo did not advance to the final of the 100-meter hurdles at the European Championships. All three competed in the semifinals on Tuesday evening but fell short of qualifying for the final.

Ida Beiter Bomme, considered the best Danish prospect for the final, finished sixth in her heat with a time of 13.16 seconds. She cited strong headwinds as a major factor, stating, "I felt I was really keeping up, and then I hit a hurdle. Because there was so much headwind, I clearly lost momentum on the last two hurdles." Bomme expressed frustration, noting that both her races at the championships were affected by significant headwinds, preventing her from achieving her full potential.

Mette Laugesen Kammer recorded the fastest time among the Danish women at 13.14 seconds, also placing sixth in her heat. "I had hoped for more, of course, but it's not a disaster either. There was a lot of headwind. I think I got off to a good start, but then it was like I died a little," Kammer told DR Sporten.

Annika Haldbo, the third Danish semifinalist, finished seventh in her heat with a time of 13.17 seconds. The men's 100 meters also saw no Danish finalists, with Simon Hansen finishing seventh in his semifinal heat in 10.40 seconds, a time well off his season's best and Danish record.
