Danish Swimmers Miss Semifinals on Opening Day of European Championships

The first day of the European Aquatics Championships in Paris saw eight Danish swimmers compete, but none managed to qualify for the semifinals. While expectations were not high for advancement from the preliminary heats, the competition marked the debut for several young athletes.

Among the notable performances, EM debutants Shawn Wolf and Mathias Christensen both achieved personal bests in the men's 100-meter breaststroke. Wolf finished with a time of 1 minute and 1.99 seconds, expressing satisfaction with his race plan and the confidence gained for future events. Christensen followed closely, setting his personal record at 1 minute and 2.06 seconds. Wolf ultimately placed 49th overall, with Christensen finishing 50th.

Other Danish swimmers also competed, including Elias Marius Elsgaard in the 100m breaststroke (39th place). In the men's 50m butterfly, Lukas Peacock, Rasmus Nickelsen, and Casper Puggaard finished 75th, 33rd, and 29th, respectively. In the women's 200m backstroke, debutants Emma Brogaard Krogh and Schastine Tabor secured 23rd and 21st places.

Looking ahead, Danish swimmers will continue their campaign at the championships. Gold medalist Martine Damborg is set to compete in the 50m butterfly, and Frederik Riedel Lentz will participate in the 100m freestyle. The Danish team will also field relay teams in the 4x100m medley for women, men, and mixed categories, bringing the total Danish contingent to 16 swimmers.
