Darline Graham, who is currently serving as South Carolina's interim senator, has announced her intention to seek a full term in the U.S. Senate. Graham, the sister of the late Senator Lindsey Graham, confirmed her decision following an endorsement from former President Donald Trump last week.

In an interview with Sean Hannity, Graham stated, "I'm in," signaling her commitment to the race. She was appointed by Governor Henry McMaster to fill the remainder of her brother's term. Graham, 62, recently made history by becoming the first woman to represent South Carolina in the Senate upon her swearing-in.

Her brother, Lindsey Graham, passed away earlier this month at the age of 71 due to what his office described as a brief and sudden illness. The preliminary ruling indicated aortic dissection as the cause of death. Following his passing, the state is preparing for a special primary election on August 11 to determine who will appear on the ballot for the full six-year term.

Former President Trump publicly encouraged Darline Graham to run, writing on Truth Social that she is a "WINNER all of her life" and has his "Complete and Total Endorsement." Trump's backing comes after Lindsey Graham had already secured the Republican nomination last month, necessitating the special primary to fill the vacancy on the ballot.
