Data Servers from Viktor Orbán's Party Seized in Hungary

Hungarian authorities have seized data servers belonging to the Fidesz party, formerly led by ex-Prime Minister Viktor Orbán. Fidesz had previously announced on Facebook that the Hungarian prosecutor's office intended to confiscate the party's entire communication system and databases. The prosecutor's office, in an email to Reuters, confirmed the seizure is connected to an investigation into alleged embezzlement and other criminal offenses within the National Cultural Fund (NKA) during Orbán's tenure. Orbán, however, rejected these claims in a Facebook post, criticizing the current government led by Prime Minister Péter Magyar and framing the seizure as an attack on his party. Fidesz had stated on Facebook that the prosecutor's office was "going to seize the entire party's communication system and databases." The prosecutor's office responded via email to Reuters, stating that the case is linked to an investigation into "embezzlement and other criminal offenses" within the NKA, a body operating under Orbán's previous government. Orbán, in a Facebook post, dismissed the allegations and criticized the new government led by Prime Minister Péter Magyar.
