Daughter arrested after mother found burned to death in home

The daughter of a 75-year-old woman found dead in her Gragnano home has been detained by prosecutors in Torre Annunziata. The precautionary measure followed the daughter's interrogation, during which "serious evidence of guilt" emerged.

Initial investigations by the Carabinieri suggest the daughter, who is believed to have mental health problems that require further assessment, attempted to set her mother's house on fire. She allegedly cut the gas line, creating a fire that engulfed and killed the 75-year-old.

The daughter is charged by the Public Prosecutor's Office of Torre Annunziata with voluntary homicide and attempted arson. The victim's body has been released to judicial authorities, and the home has been seized. The incident occurred on Thursday afternoon on Via Vittorio Veneto in Gragnano. Local police and the Carabinieri responded to the scene, along with firefighters.
