Dean of Agriculture Faculty: Attacks on University are hypocritical; scientific research faces underfunding

Vladan Bogdanović, Dean of the University of Belgrade's Faculty of Agriculture, has characterized attacks on the university as hypocritical, particularly in light of the institution's struggles with inadequate funding for scientific research.

Bogdanović addressed the criticism surrounding the University of Belgrade's declining performance in rankings, suggesting that the attacks are disingenuous. He implied that external pressures and a lack of sufficient financial resources hinder the university's ability to maintain and improve its standing.

"Scientific research is facing insufficient funding," Bogdanović stated, pointing to a systemic issue that impacts the quality and output of academic work. This lack of investment, he argues, is a primary factor contributing to the university's perceived shortcomings.

The Dean's comments come amid ongoing discussions about the University of Belgrade's position in global and regional academic assessments. He suggests that a more constructive approach would involve addressing the core issue of financial support for research rather than resorting to what he deems hypocritical criticism.
