Deaths reported at school shooting in Thailand, officials say

An unknown number of people have died after a student opened fire at a school in Thailand, north of the capital Bangkok. The incident occurred on Friday in the Bang Kruai district of Nonthaburi province.

Authorities have identified the shooter as a student at Debsirin Nonthaburi School. As of Friday evening, police were still working to confirm the exact number of fatalities and injuries. Lt. Col. Pasakorn Chaitawiwong, head of the local police department, stated that the death toll was not yet known.

Images circulated by emergency responders showed students evacuating the school premises, with ambulances present. One photograph depicted an individual lying on a stretcher outside an ambulance, receiving attention from a medic.

This tragic event follows a similar incident in February, when a teacher was killed and a student injured in a school shooting in Hat Yai district, southern Thailand.
