DeerHack 2026 concludes, showcasing student innovation and sustainability-focused solutions

DeerHack 2026, a three-day student-led hackathon organized by the DWIT Software Club, concluded on June 14 in Kathmandu, Nepal. The event brought together young innovators from Nepal and India to create technology-driven solutions for real-world challenges.

Held at the Deerwalk Complex, the fourth edition of DeerHack featured 17 teams competing in multiple tracks, including Artificial Intelligence, Environment, Interactive Technology, and Blockchain. Over 48 hours, participants designed, developed, and refined their projects under the guidance of mentors and industry professionals before presenting to a panel of judges.

Team Profit.exe was crowned the grand winner of DeerHack 2026, recognized for its innovation, technical excellence, and overall impact. A significant highlight of this year's event was the introduction of the Environment Track, aligned with the theme of Environmental Sustainability. This new category challenged participants to develop technology-based solutions for environmental issues and promote sustainable development.

The inaugural Environment Track title was awarded to Team Goggins from G. H. Raisoni University in Pune, India. Their solution focused on addressing environmental impact. Organizers noted that DeerHack has grown substantially since its 2023 launch, becoming a premier student-led technology event in Nepal. The hackathon serves as a vital platform for developers, designers, entrepreneurs, and innovators to collaborate and transform ideas into practical applications, fostering a growing network of innovators both within Nepal and internationally.
