Defence College honours army chief with alumnus star award

The National Defence College has honored the Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen Waidi Shaibu, with the "Distinguished Alumnus Star Award." The award recognizes Shaibu's significant contributions to strategic military leadership, professional military education, and national security.

Shaibu received the honor on Friday during the graduation ceremony of National Defence College Course 34 in Abuja. The Nigerian Army announced the award, emphasizing its recognition of the chief's efforts in building a professional, adaptable, combat-ready, and resilient Nigerian Army.

The ceremony was attended by President Bola Tinubu, represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima. The event underscored the Federal Government's dedication to developing strategic leaders and strengthening the professionalism within Nigeria's defense and security architecture.
