Defence Force meet Club Sando in Concacaf Caribbean Cup

Defence Force FC and Club Sando FC meet in a local derby that promises little separation between two familiar rivals. The Group A match in the 2026 Concacaf Caribbean Cup takes place at Hasely Crawford Stadium.

Defence Force coach Walt Noreiga expects the result to depend on tactical execution and the teams’ ability to convert chances. The two clubs know each other well from Trinidad and Tobago’s Premier League, and their recent meetings have been close. Club Sando won 2-1 in March, but Defence Force won 3-1 in December 2025 and have taken three of their last four encounters.

Both teams have beaten SV Broki 2-1 in the competition. Defence Force followed an opening 3-0 away defeat to Haiti’s Violette with a comeback victory over the Surinamese champions. Alan da Costa put Broki ahead in the 34th minute, but substitute Nicholas Dillon scored in the 74th and 82nd minutes to complete the turnaround.

We could isolate them and capitalise on the chances we create and then defensively shut them out.

Club Sando also came from behind against Broki. Shaquille Cairo headed the Surinamese side into the lead in the 35th minute. Luke Phillip equalised from a penalty in first-half stoppage time, and Shackiel Henry scored the winner in the 65th minute after reacting quickest to a rebound.

Defence Force are the two-time defending local champions. Club Sando finished runners-up last season, when the teams ranked first and second in both goals scored and defensive records. Club Sando coach Angus Eve, a former Army winger, is described as a decisive and results-focused tactician.
