Defends mother from father's attack, has him arrested

In Rimini, Italy, a 22-year-old man bravely defended his mother from his father's violent assault, resulting in the father's arrest. Carabinieri apprehended the 43-year-old Albanian national on charges of aggravated family mistreatment, personal injury, and threats against his wife and son.

The incident occurred on August 5th at a hotel in Viserbella. Responding to an urgent call from the son during a heated argument, officers found the father in a state of intoxication. He was demanding money from his wife for her work as a domestic helper during June and July. The situation escalated when the father attempted to throw a bicycle at a customer's car before punching his son in the face.

The son had intervened to protect his mother, and the blow caused him to drop his phone while he was still on the line with the operations center. To stop his father's aggression, the young man restrained him on the ground until the arrival of the carabinieri. He sustained injuries that required 10 days of medical attention.

Investigations revealed a history of violence dating back to March 2020, when the couple's two children were still minors. In one past incident, the father, while drunk, entered his sons' room with a belt. When the mother tried to shield them, he pushed her, causing her to hit her head against a baseboard. He also struck the older son before she was taken to the hospital, where she falsely claimed she had fallen.

A new escalation began on August 2nd when the father again assaulted his wife, causing injuries that required 30 days of treatment. The woman filed a report the following day. On August 4th, the man went to his wife's workplace and threatened her. The public prosecutor requested the validation of the arrest and pre-trial detention, citing the risk of repeated offenses, compounded by the suspect's chronic alcohol dependency.
