Defense Ministry asks Knesset to extend nationwide declaration of home front emergency

The document specifically notes that Iran continues to launch missile fire of varying intensity toward various Middle Eastern countries. Security officials assess a high probability of attacks targeting the civilian population, prompting the Defense Ministry's recommendation to extend the emergency declaration.

Officials emphasized that there are currently no active directives from the Home Front Command for the civilian population. However, the extension would allow the Home Front Command to retain authorities under the Civil Defense Law, including the power to issue public instructions, mandate protected spaces, restrict educational activities, and direct auxiliary organizations if circumstances change. The economic impact of this extension is anticipated to be minimal, as no active Home Front Command directives are in effect. The ministry also stated that the declaration could be revoked or narrowed if the security situation significantly improves.
