DeGrom reaches 100 wins as Rangers edge Cardinals 2-1

Texas Rangers ace Jacob deGrom achieved a significant career milestone on Sunday, securing his 100th Major League Baseball victory. DeGrom delivered a stellar performance, pitching five scoreless innings and striking out eight batters against the St. Louis Cardinals, leading the Rangers to a tight 2-1 win.

The right-hander navigated early trouble in the first inning, facing a bases-loaded jam with one out but impressively striking out the next two batters to escape the threat. He continued to dominate, allowing only four hits and one walk throughout his outing, effectively shutting down the Cardinals' offense. DeGrom threw 91 pitches, with his fastball consistently reaching speeds around 97.6 mph, peaking at 99.2 mph.

This dominant performance marked a strong rebound for deGrom, who had struggled in his previous start, giving up six runs in just three innings against the Angels. His outing on Sunday lowered his season ERA to 3.48 and secured his fourth win of the season.

The Rangers' offense provided just enough support. They took the lead in the fourth inning with consecutive singles from Brandon Nimmo and Ezequiel Duran. Nicky Lopez and Joc Pederson added another run in the fifth with their own base hits. Although the Cardinals managed to close the gap to one run in the sixth inning with a home run from Masyn Winn, the Rangers' bullpen held firm to preserve the victory and deGrom's milestone win.
