Delivery App Team Leader Under Investigation for Alleged Coupang Eats Data Leak

Authorities have launched an investigation into the team leader of Shinhan Bank's delivery application, 'Ddaenggyeo,' amid allegations of leaking confidential information from their previous employer, Coupang Eats. The team leader, identified only by the surname 'K,' is suspected of misappropriating internal data from Coupang Eats to aid in the development of the 'Ddaenggyeo' service.

The allegations surfaced after an initial report was filed with the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission. The commission, after reviewing the complaint, forwarded the case to the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency last month. The Namdaemun Police Station, which has jurisdiction over Shinhan Bank's headquarters, received the case and initiated its investigation late last month.

'Ddaenggyeo,' launched in January 2022, operates as a public-private partnership delivery app, having established collaborations with various local governments. Police officials indicated that they are currently reviewing specific plans for summoning the suspect for questioning. The investigation aims to determine the extent of the alleged data leak and its impact on the development and operation of the 'Ddaenggyeo' app.
