Delta to support farmers, investors

Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has reiterated his administration's commitment to bolstering the agricultural sector and attracting private investment. During an inspection of Tatcha Farms, Amity Global Farms, and Manroy Livestock Farms, Oborevwori highlighted the government's strategy to support businesses through infrastructure development and improved power supply, rather than solely through direct financial aid.

Governor Oborevwori emphasized that the state's recent economic and investment summit aimed to showcase opportunities, particularly in agriculture, to both local and international investors. He announced that a 33kV electricity line project has been awarded to enhance power supply to businesses in the region. Ongoing road projects are also expected to improve connectivity to farming communities and markets, facilitating easier access for produce and goods.

The governor assured that support would extend to small-scale farmers, with genuine agricultural producers receiving priority for inputs like fertilizer. He encouraged civil servants and other residents to engage in farming, citing its potential to create jobs, enhance food security, and reduce crime. Farm operators expressed their appreciation for the visit and highlighted their contributions to food security and job creation, while also noting challenges such as inadequate financing and logistical delays.
