Democratic Party Eyes 'Revolution of Light' in Platform Revision

South Korea's Democratic Party is moving to formally incorporate "Revolution of Light" into its core platform, framing it as a fundamental principle of democracy. This proposed revision to the party's platform, along with other amendments to its constitution and regulations, is set to be presented to the party's committee for deliberation.

Today, there were many agenda items for the party committee's deliberation at the closed-door supreme council meeting. The meeting was long because there were many matters to sort out regarding the platform, party constitution, and regulations.

According to Senior Spokesperson Kang Joon-hyun, the party's supreme council decided to submit the revision bill, initially announced by the special committee for the national convention on June 31, to the party's committee. Kang explained that the platform was partially amended to align with the vision and direction of the ruling Democratic Party and the Lee Jae-myung administration. The "Revolution of Light" is being added to reflect the will of citizens demonstrated during the process of overcoming the "December 12 coup d'état."
