Democratic Party's Chungcheong primary results announced; Choi Min-hee, Park Sun-won, Han Min-soo, Seo Mi-hwa, Kim Yong in winning positions

Choi Min-hee, Park Sun-won, Han Min-soo, Seo Mi-hwa, and Kim Yong have secured positions within the top five in the Democratic Party's Supreme Council election for the Chungcheong region. These results mark the first of the party's nationwide regional primaries leading up to the August 17 national convention.

The Chungcheong primary, encompassing Daejeon, Sejong, South Chungcheong, and North Chungcheong provinces, saw an online voter turnout of 41.5%. This figure represents 67,988 votes from 163,846 eligible voters, a notable increase compared to the average 26.5% turnout in the same region during last year's convention.

Online voting for the Chungcheong권 took place from July 28-29, followed by ARS (automatic response system) voting for those who did not participate online from July 30-31. The party is scheduled to hold subsequent regional primaries in Busan/Ulsan/South Gyeongsang (August 2), Jeju/Incheon (August 8), Gangwon/Daegu/North Gyeongsang (August 9), Honam (August 15), and Seoul/Gyeonggi (August 16).

The final five elected members of the Supreme Council will be announced at the national convention on August 17. The election for the Supreme Council involves each voter selecting two candidates, with the votes counted in order of performance.
