Denis & Denis debut album reissued on vinyl after being named 1985's best domestic album

Denis & Denis's debut album “Čuvaj se!” has returned on vinyl, bringing back one of the defining releases of the Yugoslav synth-pop scene. The Rijeka duo's 1984 album was widely regarded as the most successful domestic electro-pop product of its time.

Davor Tolja adapted the modern pop electronics then emerging in Britain for a local audience, while Marina Perazić's distinctive voice gave the music much of its character. Their combination of synthesizer arrangements and sensual vocals reached radio stations and clubs across Yugoslavia.

Working with producer Andrej Baša, Denis & Denis set new production standards for the genre. Songs including “Program tvog kompjutera,” “Tek je sedam sati” and the title track “Čuvaj se!” became classics that still appear regularly on radio. In early 1985, Rock magazine's traditional poll, voted on by 33 domestic rock critics, named the album the best domestic album of the year.

The new edition includes an exclusive booklet with archival material and previously unpublished photographs taken by Mario Krištofić when the album was made. It also features texts by Siniša Škarica and Željko Luketić, along with a review by Sanja Bachrach Krištofić and Mario Krištofić, who designed both the original artwork and the new vinyl package.

Mauro Širol remastered the album at Croatia Records Studio, while Sean Magee cut the lacquer at London's Abbey Road Studios. A download card provides access to an MP3 version of the album.
