Deportes Limache looks to capitalize on Cobresal’s predicament and climb the table

Deportes Limache and Cobresal arrive at Monday’s match carrying sharply different ambitions. The meeting at Quillota’s Lucio Fariña Fernández stadium will open the 22nd round of Chile’s Liga de Primera at 8 p.m. local time, or 2300 GMT.

Víctor Rivero’s Limache comes in encouraged by a 2-0 win over Ñublense in the previous round. That victory lifted the club to seventh place with 30 points, and another points haul would put it back into the fight for a Copa Sudamericana place.

Cobresal, coached by Gustavo Huerta, faces a much more difficult climb. The club sits 15th with 21 points and must pursue Universidad de Concepción, on 22, and Huachipato, on 25, to escape the relegation places. Cobresal did beat Palestino, but that result has not eased the pressure.

The teams also meet with the memory of Limache’s emphatic 5-2 win in the first half of the season. Mathias Riquelme will referee the match, with Cooperativa.cl providing coverage of the game.
