Deportes Temuco ends San Marcos' undefeated run, moves up in Ascenso League

Deportes Temuco has disrupted the Liga de Ascenso standings by defeating league leaders San Marcos de Arica 1-0, ending their undefeated streak. The victory, achieved during matchday 14, prevented San Marcos from solidifying their position at the top of the table.

The decisive goal came in the 59th minute from Uruguayan forward Luis Acevedo. He received a precise pass from Diego Buonanotte and skillfully finished past the onrushing goalkeeper Benjamín Tapia. This single goal proved to be the difference in a tightly contested match at the Estadio "Carlos Dittborn."

With this crucial win, Deportes Temuco, known as "el cuadro pije," climbed to fourth place in the league with 23 points. Meanwhile, San Marcos, referred to as "los Bravos del Morro," remained in third place with 25 points. They now trail league leaders Santiago Wanderers, who have 26 points, by a narrow margin.

Looking ahead, San Marcos faces a challenging fixture as they travel to play San Luis de Quillota on June 5. Deportes Temuco, from the Araucanía region, will host Curicó Unido on June 8. The outcome of these upcoming matches will be critical for both teams as they vie for promotion.
