Deputy Senate Minority leader, Osun Rep member secure Accord ticket

Senator Lere Oyewumi, the Deputy Minority Leader of the Senate, has secured the Accord Party's nomination for the Osun West Senatorial District in the upcoming 2027 general elections. Similarly, Olanrewaju Oladebo, who represents the Ayedaade/Irewole/Isokan Federal Constituency, also clinched the party's ticket for re-election.

The successful conduct of today’s primaries is historic. It speaks to how much both members of our party and the people of our respective constituencies believe in the government of Ademola Adeleke and the Accord Party.

The primary elections, held separately in Ikire, saw both candidates emerge through affirmation. Delegates from the 10 local government areas within the Osun West Senatorial District attended the primaries, which were also observed by officials from the Independent National Electoral Commission and security operatives. Leaders of the Accord Party in the district had previously affirmed Oyewumi as their consensus candidate, citing his first-term achievements.

Both Oyewumi and Oladebo were initially elected in 2023 under the Peoples Democratic Party. However, they later switched allegiance to the Accord Party following significant crises within their former party's national leadership. The results of the primaries were officially announced by the respective Accord Party primary election committee chairmen.

In his acceptance speech, Oyewumi highlighted the successful primaries as a validation of Governor Ademola Adeleke's performance. He expressed the constituents' resolve to re-elect Adeleke and viewed his own re-nomination as a challenge to achieve more. Oladebo echoed similar sentiments, thanking Accord Party members for their support and assuring them of his commitment.
