Details Emerge of High-Level Security Meeting Between Baghdad and Erbil

A high-level security meeting brought together senior officials from Baghdad and the Kurdistan Region to discuss coordination between their forces.

The meeting was chaired by Army General Abdul Amir al-Shammari, director of the office of the commander-in-chief of the armed forces. Those attending included the head of the Counter Terrorism Service, the head of the Border Ports Authority, and the deputy intelligence chief at the Interior Ministry.

Deputies from the National Security and Intelligence Services also attended, along with the army chief of staff’s assistant for operations and several army commanders. The Kurdistan Region was represented by its chief of staff, accompanied by commanders, officers, directors and security officials.

The participants discussed mechanisms for field coordination and military cooperation between federal forces and the region’s forces.
