Detention Ordered for Suspects in Belgrade Murder Case

A judge at the Higher Court in Belgrade has ordered pre-trial detention for up to 30 days for three individuals, identified as M.S., M.Đ., and M.K. They are accused of the murder of a 73-year-old man in his apartment in the Karaburma settlement of Belgrade.

The court stated that detention was ordered due to legal grounds, including the risk of flight, the possibility of influencing witnesses, and the likelihood of the suspects committing further crimes. The charges include aggravated murder, a crime punishable by over ten years in prison. The court noted that the manner of execution and the severity of the consequences have caused public alarm.

According to the indictment, M.Đ. and M.S. allegedly entered the victim's apartment on the evening of August 2nd. They are suspected of tying the victim's hands and feet and gagging him before stealing an undetermined amount of money from a safe. M.K. allegedly acted as a lookout. The victim was found deceased the following morning. M.Đ. and M.K. were apprehended in a Volkswagen vehicle, believed to have been purchased with the stolen money. A portion of the money was recovered from the vehicle and during searches of the apartment and other locations.
