Detty December Fest Returns, Promises Best of African Cultural Experience

Lagos is gearing up for the return of the Detty December Fest, a vibrant celebration scheduled to run from December 18th to December 30th, 2026. This highly anticipated event aims to build on the energy of Lagos's festive season, offering an extended 13-day experience that goes beyond music to encompass a wide array of cultural attractions.

The festival plans to feature multiple stages and over 300 performers, creating a non-stop fiesta for attendees. Kicking off the festivities on December 18th is a Grand Opening Concert headlined by Grammy-winning artist Wizkid. Organizers expect his performance, featuring a mix of Afrobeats classics and international collaborations, to draw a massive crowd and set an energetic tone for the festival.

Beyond the musical performances, the 2026 Detty December Fest is designed as a comprehensive cultural showcase. The program includes dedicated areas for food and shopping, family-friendly seasonal attractions, and a space specifically curated for youth culture, known as Gen Z Republik. This multi-faceted approach aims to provide a rich and engaging experience for all attendees.

The festival's return marks its evolution into one of Africa's most significant cultural and economic events. Its debut edition attracted over 40,000 festival-goers, establishing it as a key moment in Lagos's festive calendar and a notable destination for live entertainment across the continent.
