DFB-Pokal: Martínez's Leverkusen cruises to 4-0 win at Wiesbaden

Bayer Leverkusen began their DFB-Pokal campaign with a resounding 4-0 victory over third-division side Wehen Wiesbaden, marking a successful competitive debut for new coach Carles Martínez. The Bundesliga team comfortably advanced to the second round.

Despite initial patience required against a defensively organized Wiesbaden, Leverkusen broke the deadlock just before halftime. Patrick Schick scored the opening goal in the 43rd minute, converting a rebound. The lead was quickly extended after the break when Lucas Vázquez found the net in the 47th minute following up on Schick's attempt.

Substitute goals from Nathan Tella in the 69th minute and Christian Kofane in the 79th sealed the comprehensive win. The victory provided a strong start for Martínez, who was seen actively directing his team from the sidelines, especially in the first half.

Leverkusen, captained by Edmond Tapsoba, controlled the match despite challenging weather conditions. Goalkeeper Janis Blaswich, starting in place of Mark Flekken, made key saves early on to deny Wiesbaden.
