Dhaka University Law Professor Nazmuzzaman Bhuian Appointed PSC Chairman

Dr Mohammad Nazmuzzaman Bhuian, a law professor at Dhaka University, has been appointed chairman of Bangladesh’s Public Service Commission.

The Ministry of Public Administration confirmed the appointment in a gazette notification signed by Md Golam Rabbani, deputy secretary of the ministry’s Contract and Foreign Employment Wing. The president made the appointment under Article 138(1) of the constitution.

Bhuian is currently on leave from Dhaka University, according to the university’s website. He earned a PhD from the School of Oriental and African Studies at the University of London under a Commonwealth Scholarship.

His professional roles also include membership of the Executive Council of the Asian Society of International Law and vice-president of its Bangladesh chapter, according to his university profile. Under Article 139(1) of the constitution, he will serve as PSC chairman for five years from the date he assumes office, or until he reaches 65, whichever comes earlier.
